AITA for staying true to my threats after my dad died?

Losing both of my parents in such a short span has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. My sister Jess and I were already grieving, but on top of that, we knew our extended family had a history of swooping in and taking belongings before things were settled. To prevent that, we set very clear boundaries. Unfortunately, those boundaries were broken almost immediately, and now my family is accusing me of being heartless for following through on the consequences I warned them about.

Let’s check out how Redditors are reacting to this situation.

Now Jess and I are being painted as villains by our extended family, and even our grandmother says we’ve gone too far. But to me, it feels like we’re just protecting our parents’ wishes, their legacy, and what’s legally right. It breaks my heart that this situation has turned into such a family feud, but I can’t bring myself to feel guilty for enforcing the rules we clearly set. So, AITA for standing firm and letting my cousins face the consequences of their actions?

What do you think?
