AITAH my roommate says I can’t move out until after her wedding

Sometimes life throws so much at you at once that you can barely keep your head above water. Between losing my dog, battling health issues, and being forced out of my home due to mold, I’ve been barely hanging on. In the middle of all this chaos, I made the difficult decision to move out of my apartment permanently. But now my roommate—who’s in the middle of planning her wedding—claims my timing is “selfish” and is pressuring me to delay my move-out date.

Let’s find out what other Redditors think about this story.

At the end of the day, I can’t keep sacrificing my finances and mental health just to make things easier for someone else. I gave plenty of notice, I’ve paid rent on a place I couldn’t even live in, and I’ve already been through more than enough grief this year. If my roommate wants to throw away our friendship over this, then maybe it wasn’t as strong as I thought to begin with. I don’t think standing up for myself makes me the bad guy here—just someone who’s finally choosing to put themselves first.

What do you think?
