AITA For Limiting My Daughters Reading Time? She’s super mad about it

Every parent has their own limits when it comes to balancing a child’s hobbies with responsibilities, but what happens when that hobby is reading? For most families, encouraging a teenager to pick up a book instead of scrolling endlessly on their phone would be a dream. But in my case, my 16-year-old daughter’s love of books has reached the point where it consumes nearly every waking moment, causing tension, unfinished chores, and a serious clash between us.

The Update: A Compromise

Let’s check out how Redditors are reacting to this situation.

At first, I thought limiting her reading time was a reasonable solution to restore balance in the house. But after seeing her reaction and hearing my family’s pushback, I’ve started to realize I may have taken things too far. While I still want her to take chores seriously, maybe the problem isn’t her passion for books, but my fear of it taking over. I’ve compromised by setting boundaries instead of bans, but deep down, I can’t help but wonder: was I wrong for trying to control something that brings her so much joy?
