AITA for ignoring my ex husband’s new wife?

Divorce is never easy, especially when children are involved. But what makes it worse is when one parent simply walks away, leaving the other to carry the emotional and physical burden of raising the kids. After years of betrayal, abandonment, and disappointment, I’ve been left to pick up the pieces while my ex built a new life with the woman he cheated on me with. Now, out of nowhere, his new wife has reached out—and I don’t know if I’m wrong for refusing to engage.

Now it’s Reddit’s turn to weigh in on this mess.

At the end of the day, my priority has always been my children and protecting them from further hurt. My ex has made no effort to be present in their lives, and I feel like letting his new wife step in now is just another way for him to avoid responsibility. Maybe I’m being too harsh by ignoring her, but after years of abandonment, broken promises, and silence, I can’t help but feel like I’m justified. What do you think—am I truly being unreasonable, or just protecting my daughter from more pain?

What do you think?
