AITA for “starving” my friend’s child by not catering to his McDonald’s-only diet?

Some days you agree to help a friend, expecting a smooth ride… but then the universe hands you a front-row seat to a food battle you never signed up for. Yesterday, I thought I was just going to spend a nice, easy day babysitting my friend Ryan’s two kids while he worked. Movies, games, maybe lunch at a fun place — that was the plan. Instead, I found myself trapped in a stand-off with a 10-year-old who would rather go hungry than eat anything that didn’t come from the Golden Arches. By the end of the day, I wasn’t just “the babysitter,” I was the villain who starved his child.

The Real Question

Let’s find out what other Redditors think about this story.

I understand that picky eaters can be challenging, and yes, Ryan did give me a heads-up about Andy’s food preferences. But I’m not a personal chef or a food delivery service, and it feels unreasonable to expect anyone watching their kids to cater to such rigid demands, especially when it involves driving to a specific fast-food chain instead of eating the perfectly fine food right in front of them. At the end of the day, I didn’t think I was being cruel; I thought I was teaching a lesson in flexibility. Now, I’m left wondering — did I cross the line, or is this just an impossible parenting style to babysit for?
