At the end of the day, all I wanted was to be supported, respected, and trusted — especially by the person who knows me best. Instead, I was treated like a suspect in my own relationship, as though my daughter’s existence required proof. Maybe my family’s anger was justified, maybe I shouldn’t have “exposed” him, but what else was I supposed to do when my partner allowed his family to trample all over my dignity?
