AITA for calling my aunt selfish and telling her she can’t just offload her parental responsibility on me

Hosting family can be both a joy and a challenge, but when the line between helping out and being taken advantage of gets crossed, things can get ugly fast. Recently, my aunt and her 4-year-old daughter came to stay with us for the week, and while I was excited to spend time with them at first, it didn’t take long before I started feeling less like a relative and more like a stand-in parent. What was supposed to be a family visit quickly spiraled into me being responsible for almost every aspect of childcare, and when I finally reached my breaking point, it caused a huge fight that left me questioning whether I was wrong for standing up for myself.

Apologize? For What?

Let’s check out how Redditors are reacting to this situation.

Now I’m stuck in a situation where my aunt is upset with me, my mom is furious, and I’ve been told I have to apologize for snapping—even though I was the one being saddled with responsibilities I never agreed to. I love my little cousin, but I’m not her mother, and I don’t think it’s fair to expect an 18-year-old to give up her privacy, sleep, and sanity just so my aunt can have a mini vacation. Maybe I could’ve handled my outburst better, but at the same time, how much was I supposed to put up with before speaking out?

What do you think?

AITA for going off on my ex’s girlfriend for taking my daughter out of state to visit her family and saying I no longer want her around my daughter.
